Our sustainability
Vivi recognises and shares the Trentino spirit, made up of work, care for the environment and sharing, respecting the entire system made up of people, customs, traditions, territorial heritage and history. Our idea of sustainability embraces not only the environment, but also the society and economy of this wonderful territory.
BIO-ARCHITECTURE
Vivi comes to life from the renovation of an old building, as opposed to building from scratch with the consequent cementing of green areas, and is located within the Adamello di Brenta Park, the largest protected area in Trentino. The setting is the Dolomites, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
ENERGY AND RESOURCES
The old building we renovated belonged to energy class E. Vivi is now a bio-house in energy class A+ with a structure made mainly of wood, a material that allows for a high level of surface insulation and, together with the thermal insulation coat, contains the building's energy requirements. Vivi is also powered mainly with clean energy from renewable sources: photovoltaic, solar thermal and heat pump systems.
MATERIALS
The structure of the house is made of wood, the main renewable resource in construction with zero CO2 emissions, from certified sustainably managed forests. Besides being an environmentally friendly material, it is also breathable and ensures better air quality inside the structure. Many of the furniture elements are also made of wood from deceased trees, which is recovered from the forests and enhanced by skilled craftsmen. Vivi has also eliminated the use of disposable plastic in favour of natural materials such as wood, glass, stone and natural fibres (eucalyptus, hemp and cotton).
LOCAL ECONOMY
We are deeply attached to our region and are proud to have invested in companies from Trentino. From construction to building site to final installation, we have entrusted everything to young entrepreneurs and local master craftsmen who have repaid us with a result that has exceeded all our wildest expectations.
HUMAN VALUE
People are really important to us. We encourage the hiring of local young people so that they feel part of a larger, welcoming and sincere ecosystem. We value the abilities of others without distinction and fight inequality of any kind.
NO TO WASTE
We fight waste in all its forms. Our breakfast baskets are designed (also) to avoid the numerous leftovers typical of buffets, and anything good left over from the kitchen is offered free of charge to our guests in the lounge. In order to reduce excessive water consumption, we have installed water restrictors that prevent water from being wasted and plaques that raise awareness for a more responsible consumption of this precious resource.
A shared responsability
Picking up that rubbish on the promenade, turning off the lights when you leave, turning off the water tap while you soap up, buying local products, reusing the towels provided, choosing to travel by bicycle: these are all small, seemingly insignificant actions. After all, what difference can a drop in the ocean make? But the ocean, if you think about it, is nothing more than the sum of many small drops. Similarly, if one virtuous person is joined by ten, a hundred, a thousand, then it is possible to make a difference. All together, in our own small way, we can build a fairer and more sustainable world.
